Risograph is an eco-friendly printing method that allows you to use photographed images and add areas of colour. Riso was invented in Japan and is done on a machine that looks like a photocopier, and uses no heat or toner, but soya-based ink. The ink colours are limited so you need to work out how they combine with different levels of opacity. You can find out more about it here: RISO printing – Footprint Workers Co-op (footprinters.co.uk) As Footprint say, "It's soy-based, kinda lo-fi, and gorgeous"
I did a great workshop at Footprint in Chapeltown, and from that I developed this print. It contains elements originally made by hand using different print techniques - etching, collagraph & monoprint. The enlargement which you can use due to it being a photographic process means that you can really show off the lovely marks and details which come about when you hand print - a bit like a mechanised screen print.
